As a preparation for the summative Individual Oral Presentation at the end of the semester for Literature, each of us were assigned a chapter in the book, The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien. The chapter I chose was "Ambush," and my job was to re-tell the chapter through an oral presentation, with the help of a slideshow. I briefly summarized the chapter, and analyzed different parts of the chapter, connecting it to literary devices such as repetition, and recurring themes and motifs, such as the question of morality and the aftermaths of the war. I felt like my presentation was too short overall, and that I could have described some more literary devices in the chapter. However, that being said, the chapter was rather short, only being about 4 pages long. On the other hand, because I tend to talk in a low volume at most times, I felt like this presentation helped me be more confident in my oral techniques. I was extremely nervous before the presentation, but felt better afterwards. Below is a copy of my slideshow:
