The article I chose for the Microeconomics Internal Assessment for Economics consisted in the London government implementing tax on older vehicles that caused pollution. Below is a copy of my work: I got a 14 out of 14 in this assignment, which is a 7 out of 7 in the IB scale. Below are the comments my teacher gave me on my work: Because I had learned a lot more since the last Internal Assessment, such as elasticity and market failure, I had a lot of fun analyzing this real-world news economically. I'm looking forward to doing the Macroeconomics IA as well; I feel as if I am beginning to see the news and the world through less blurry and more precise lenses than before.

As a practice for the Internal Assessment for the Microeconomics unit, I was required to choose an article and write a commentary on the article, analyzing and evaluating the different aspects of it. I chose an article regarding the illegal alcohol consumption peaking in Russia as a result of the increased tax rates in the said good. Below is a copy of my work: Ms. Zajkova, my Economics teacher, gave me feedback on my work. I got a 12/14 overall, which gives me a 7 out of 7 in the IB scale. Below are the comments she wrote for my Internal Assessment: Through this activity, I was able to learn how an Internal Assessment in the IB worked, and the feedback I got was very useful; I could take this feedback into consideration when writing the actual IA that would be submitted at the end of Semester 1. Overall, it was a very interesting experience learning how to apply the concepts I had learned during Economics class to the actual world, and it was also interesting to analyze a real-world event using graphs and diagrams. I wouldn't have read such an article a year ago and thought of all the economic concepts behind the news report, but it was fascinating how different I could look at these articles and actually understand what is actually going on. |
